The Bhuvanagiri Fort is a testament to Telangana’s history, which is a culmination of countless conflicts. Many amazing buildings may be seen within this majestic fort, which dates back approximately 3000 years. After the division of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana became a separate state. In Hyderabad, tourists would be interested in visiting Hussain Sagar and Birla Mandir, as well as historical monuments such as Charminar and Golconda Fort. Not just in Hyderabad, but throughout the state of Telangana. The Bhubanagiri Fort is a well-known landmark in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
History of Bhuvanagiri Fort:
There are various stories about Bhuvanagiri Durgam and Bhuvanagiri in folklore. Rajayagiri, a Chalukya monarch, was searching for a fort on the Mallanna Gutta. King Rajagiri was so taken with the grandeur of the mountain that he built a khilla near the fort. When King Inamuliku handed Bonaiyah, who had showed him such a magnificent spot, he gently refused them and begged that his and his wife Giramma’s names be built together. According to legend, the monarch erected a city in their honour, which is now known as Bhuvanagiri. This myth, however, has no historical basis.
According to historians, Bhuvanagiri Durgam was established about 3000 years ago, and the Bhuvanagiri region was dominated by every ruler of Telangana. However, archaeologists claim that human settlements existed in the area prior to the construction of the Bhuvanagiri Fort. Burrows, arrows, stone axes, swords, and burials from the mediaeval era were discovered here. Bhuvanagiri Fort was held by Qutub Shahi for a long period, and traces of mediaeval human habitation as well as Neolithic human sites were uncovered. The Mughals came to power later, when they captured Golconda in 1687.Sarvai Pandu, from a common Kalu Geetha family in Telangana, gained the Orugal in 1708 and then took over Bhuvanagiri. He had hidden his huge treasures here at the Kalika Mata temple in the bowels of the hill prior to his capture of Golconda. The hill contains numerous caves and tunnels that have yet to be discovered. According to historians, coins from the Vishnu Kundi era were discovered here.
Bhuvanagiri Fort Features:
Bhuvanagiri Fort, located around 47 kilometres from Hyderabad, is an ancient landmark erected atop a monolithic rock castle. The hill is 610 metres tall, making it Telangana’s tallest mountain. The mountain is an oval monolithic mountain that resembles a tortoise in the south and a sleeping elephant in the west. In the Balaghat lines, this is one of the Anantagiri lines. Mugla Vikramaditya, the 6th triangular dynasty of the Western Chalukya dynasty, is reported to have erected Bhubanagiri Fort during his reign. The Bhuvanagiri Fort, which historians say was popular during the Kakatiyas, is named for him.
There are southward and southeast passages on the hill. The current path originates in the southwest. The first steel gateway is Bhuvanagiri Fort. The Nizam is reported to have built it on his own dime. The entryway is similar to Fateh Darwaza, Balahisar’s initial gate of Golconda Fort. The architecture of Islamic civilization is characterised by tall walls and vast chambers.
Horseshoes, granaries, and military residences may be found in the fort’s inner courtyards. The fossil beneath the Rajaprasadas contains a number of amazing subterranean tunnels. No one has yet been able to figure out where these tunnels lead. In addition, there are several stone sculptures, palaces, floral embellishments, and Kakatiya style sculptures depicting the Chalukyas in the area of the palace. On the hill of Bhuvanagiri, there is a Shiva temple, a statue of the black Nandi, Someshwara, Bammadevara temple, and a monastery. We’ve observed some temples in ruins on the hill and in the deep valleys over time.
