Ananthagiri Hills is a hill station, located 90 km away from Hyderabad in the dense forested area of Vikarabad district in Telangana. It is an amusingly built around the cave surrounded by medieval forts and temples. The place is named after Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple where locals often prefer to visit.

Adventure/Trekking

Trekking from forest hills is a lot of fun here. It has two routes, one begins from Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple and other is 0.5 km from the temple that goes towards Kerelli. It gives much needed nature thrill as we come across muddy roots, tree branches, crazy ants, chirping birds and peacocks during trekking. The route  is directionless and we just have to keep questing all along!

It provides an opportunity to do camping & rock climbing too.

Places to Visit near Ananthagiri Hills

Nagasamudram Lake

Nagasamudram Lake, also called as Kotipally Reservoir is about 20 km from Anantagiri Hills. The lake offers splendid views in the monsoon season.

Musi River

It is the origin of Ananthagiri Hills near Vikarabad where Purana Paul is the oldest bridge seen over the river.

Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple

Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple is located about 75 km from Hyderabad. The Lord Vishnu, who has taken avatar of Anantha Padmanabhaswamy is worshipped with divinity and dedication.

How to Reach Ananthagiri Hills?

By Road

These hills have good connective roads for private and state buses. Bikers usually enjoy driving as roads are smooth. Hire a taxi or a bus, if you are on a family vacation where you can experience the scenery on the way. 

By Train

The nearest railway station of 3km to Ananthagiri Hills is Srikakulam. As it passes through Eastern Ghats, it offers awe-inspiring views. The other major railway station is located in Vikarabad,  6 km away from Ananthagiri Hills. You can even hire taxis and auto rickshaws from outside the railway station.

The local commute services like autos & tourist taxis  in Ananthagiri Hills is cheapest and friendly where the drivers are the fast guiders.

Best Time to Visit 

Ananthagiri Hills welcomes a pleasant atmosphere throughout the year but the best time to visit is between October and March. Summer season (April- June) is not a good sign to pack your bags because it can be hot and humid. It can be a good time to relax & stay under shelter of nature. Monsoon season caps Ananthagiri Hills with freshness everywhere but it is not favorable for adventurous activities due to heavy rains.
